So folks, I think this is going to be my last post on this site. I will be back from time to time, but just to borrow some content and post it on my bright new shiny blog. I now have http://thelittlegoat.com and it doesnt link back to a blogspot or another blog...it just is what it is. Please friend me over there. Google connect with me. RSS me. Do something to show me that you actually read my blog :). I think that this is going to be better. Its going to be more of everything, and the format is just more fun.

I'm still building it. It requires some images to make it feel like The Little Goat is home...but I couldn't help but post. Its fun having a real forum to write.

Etsy Tag Monday: Summer - THWARTED

I think Blogger knows I'm leaving. I had this beautiful summer-y post all set to be written, with Etsy Tag Monday being summer, and it wouldn't let me move any of my photos once I uploaded them. I couldn't format it the way I'd done in the past. I think that Blogger is pulling a 2001 thing and knows I'm talking behind its back. It knows I'm starting an affair, only to soon end our relationship. If he keeps behaving like this...I'll end the relationship sooner than anticipated.

Here is one of the images I was going to use. It's a rainbow fountain by Valentine Photography.

Reminds me of the summers I don't get anymore living in the bay area. I miss the heat, and the sun and the feel of summer. I miss pool parties, and pitchers of lemonade, and most of all...my tan. So this is the post for now...because anything else is just a hassle to post. Going to go home and work on prettying up the new love. This way I can leave this old, stale relationship behind.

We are in the process of figuring out this Wordpress.org thing, and have currently taken down http://thelittlegoat.com so that we can work on it from behind the scenes, to give you a new, fancy blog! (Well, I dont want to hype it up, because it likely wont be THAT fancy), but it won't be blogger. In the mean time, I'll continue posting to http://the-little-goat.blogspot.com . Same site, older, more difficult domain to remember. All the more reason for you to RSS me.

I'll also do my best to transfer old posts from this blog, as well as Too Salty for my Taste. I want it to be content rich when it goes live. Stay tuned...I'm pretty excited for a new, cleaner, more functional site.

What I had for dinner : Goat Cheese Pizza

Until I get my other site up and running, I have decided to make this blog content rich, even if its not necessarily about kids or crafts. If the mood suits me, I will have new themed entries : What I had for dinner.

There will be a sense of DIY in these posts however, because they will all have to do with the meals that Mick and I had, all prepared by us.

This one, the goat cheese pizza with tomatoes, pesto and asparagus is likely my favorite home made pizza to date.

OK, so making your own crust is fun, and maybe you feel a sense of accomplishment when you do it...but don't knock the Boboli. Seriously. Its 2g fat, tasty, and browns perfectly.

I will preface this by saying that I got the recipe out of a Weight Watchers book. Each slice is 7 points, and it yields 6 servings. This may, no will become a regular part of our diet. (I will discuss the meal plan that Mick and I are on at a later date).

1 Boboli
3/4 cup goat cheese
2 plum tomatos -sliced
8 asparagus spears
pesto - Mick made this, though store bought pesto would work too.

we put some sliced garlic on it as well

Cook for 10 minutes at 450 degrees, and if you are using a crappy oven like we were, and the olive oil drips off the pizza, your oven will catch on fire.

However, that fire made for a perfectly crisp, delicious dinner, and what will be a re-heated delight for lunch.

Flea Market Success!

Surrounded by old books, clothes out of a womans closet and kitchen supplies, I set up my first booth (table from target with a table cloth), at the Alamo Square Flea Market yesterday. This was my first attemt at selling the Wunzees outside of my Etsy shop, and I'll tell you it was WAY more enjoyable. Seeing people touch your stuff, and comment on how cute it was felt amazing. I handed out way more cards than sold items, but seriously, I consider that to be a success too!

Mick came out with me at 7:30 to start and set up, and by 8:30 the streets were already hopping. The early bird gets the deal I guess when it comes to flea markets. They are a way for people to sell shit you never knew you needed, and then there is a lone booth selling baby clothes. It actually couldn't have worked out better, because I think it was just unexpected. My table was a little breath of fresh air, and for all those people who knew that they had a baby to shop for, it was a perfect opportunity.

I went with my whole inventory. The weeks prior I had made some Wunzees that never made it into my Etsy shop, so I sold some of those, in addition to ones that had been in my shop for a while! All in all, I sold 4 bibs, a bib and Wunzee set, and 22 individual Wunzees! I did sell them for a discounted rate, (I took down the sign pretty early on) due to it being a flea market and my first time out in public, but I think I can get away with charging my normal prices at the craft fairs. I can't wait to go to my next one.

I think Mick had fun too, and it helped that the day turned out to be perfect weather. It also helped that at 9:00 am, he went strolling for goodies, and came back with a working Darth Vader mask. I mean..the voice box says stuff, and he can mic his own voice to sound just like him. Its pretty funny. He was selling Wunzees like that for a while.

At one point a few weeks ago, Mick even made his first Wunzee. He created the \m/ metal hands design, and it was one of the first ones sold! So far he is 1 for 1, with 100% of all his Wunzees sold!

Now it looks like the job I have ahead of me is alot more sewing so I have a solid inventory next time I go out. I have new bibs to work on, and even bought little beanies this time that I'm going to affix ears to. New fun stuff for my budding fair career. :) Hope I can find the time in the day....

My dear friend Abby writes a great little blog. Bright Yellow World is her tale of nothing in particular, but just little tidbits from her life. Apparently the folks at Gap think that her blog is special (as do I), because they invited her to host a pants party (as we are referring to it).

Basically The Gap redid their jeans, and they want the world to see them, so they approached a few bloggers to host the parties to show off these jeans. Abby got sent boxes and boxes of jeans, and she got to invite a bunch of her closest friends to try them on. I'm fairly certain that she gets to give away the extras as well, so you should RSS her blog NOW.

A night of pulled pork, shrimp and avocado salad, Gap printed M&M's and pants jokes, and I ended up with a new pair of awesome jeans. A great idea from the marketing team at Gap, and I have a pair of jeans to prove it. Some poorly taken iPhone photos below. :)

Blog Roll additon: Design Sponge

How have I JUST found this site? With dreams and hopes of my future home having a backyard and a garage, I always get these DIY dreams. Perhaps you remember the photos I took of the file cabinet I got at a bargain price of $15? Guess what. It still looks like that. I have all these ideas that involve spray paint and color, and I am unable to do that in my current living environment.

This blog, Design Sponge has all of the DIY goodies that I crave. It has design trends, before and after shots, and all other sorts of design porn that I can only hope to achieve when I have a house of my very own. *fingers crossed its sooner than later*.

Just scanning the blog briefly, I came across this awesome DIY before and after, and it gives me hope that once I have the workspace and resources available, my crafty nature will help our place look pretty sweet. (Maybe I should start with the pillows I've been promising our couch for a while.)

a new look

So i am thinking about putting together a real blog. I know that I've discussed this before, but I want to actually have something that reads well, but can categorize things in the way that I want them to be. Blogger has been fun for now, but I want to add pages. I can't do that here. If something awesome happens to me, I want to chronicle it step by step, maybe on separate pages...and Blogger doesn't allow that.

I may not get more readers than you 3 who follow me now. But...at least I'll have the freedom to do what I want with my blog. You may see me here for a bit longer, as I need to create a Wordpress.org blog. I need to upload a template, and FTP stuff, or whatever that means....hopefully Mick will aid in that tutorial without killing me first. I would like to accomplish this by end of August.

Do any of you have favorite templates that you use? I recently started following an old friend's blog...and I love her template, but wouldn't that be poor form to just use that one? I mean with my original content and graphics, would it be weird if we had the same format? Our friends aren't the same, we don't live in the same city...but if she started following me, would it be tacky for her to see that I "borrowed" her template? Thoughts?

Do you have any favorite themes? This site creation is new to me...and I will definitely want to populate all of the current content before it "goes live". But stay tuned...I'm excited. And this will be my under construction image. :)

So i decided I'm Target bound this afternoon. It might just be a flea market that I'm working this Saturday, and I don't necessarily feel the need to have my display totally mastered so soon...but I do need something to put my stuff on. So, Target here I come. I think I'm in the market for one of these:

Not too pretty, not too fancy....but should do the trick. It will also act as a great bar/banquet table when we have guests! So practical....gotta love Target.

I also just ordered little kid hangers from eBay, and they should be arriving shortly....so, I also need one of these: (however I'm going to put my quest for one of those on hold for a minute...the reviews are awful!)

The Alamo Square Flea Market is taking place this Saturday, and its local, and its only $25 to enter and there are still tables available. I just got one!!!

I don't want to be surrounded by junk though. Im hoping that its a good way to get exposure, and even though I'm not all ready with labels, and a good table display....i figure its a good way to get out there, and maybe get some of my stuff sold! Lord knows I could use the money.

Happy Belated Birthday

My sisters 30th birthday was yesterday. Welcome to the club. So..in honor of her August birthday, I found a few items labeled Peridot for my Belated Etsy Tag Monday. It has now become an Etsy Tag Tueday: Birthstone edition.

This large checkbook cover by Quiltish is using one of my favorite bird patterns on a polka dot peridot fabric. Hopefully with all the birthday money Jana raked in, the checkbook wont be necessary.

This cute purse with a hint of peridot is totally big enough to carry the previously mentioned checkbook cover. Looks are decieving, as if you look at the actual listing, items are larger than they appear. Good thing too, cuz it can hold all your stuff! Pesky Cat Designs has other bags sans peridot as well.

No idea why one would need a peridot felted acorn....however I kind of want one. Just for the sake of cuteness. Maybe decor on a table? Get that rustic feel? TruLuxe has a TON of felted acorns for whatever you need them for.

This unique pendant is the best shade of peridot I've seen. Kind of iridescent, and a little larger than a quarter, it would be worth buying an outfit just so you could wear the necklace. Absolutely beautiful. BM Jewlery has quite a few amazing pendants. I might find myself purchasing something soon.

Craft fair in my future?

I'll tell you what. I'm pretty excited about the possiblility of entering a craft fair. Im a little nervous, but I already have 50+ items in my shop so far, made three new ones last night, and have a few ideas of how to expand it to make it more craft fair friendly. More variety, yet more the same. Through my blog browsing, I came across a list of fairs that existed in the bay area, and Feria Urbana is happening in my hood on September 13! And I haven't missed the deadline!

For $100 I can apply and cross my fingers (they don't deposit the check till I get accepted). This one seems less intimidating to me then Renegade, but still exciting! What do I get my booth to look like? So many things to do!

I haven't even gotten in yet and the ideas are flowing! Do I sell cupcakes too? Does food get people to the booth, and then the Wunzees do the talking? Is that even legal? :P I gotta figure out all the rules and such, and come up with a cute display. Marketing materials, tags for the items, etc! So much to think about. It makes me happy to have to plan.

So random story. My friend in Austin tells me that her friend from HS has posted pictures of her baby and she thinks he is wearing one of my onesies. "Did you buy it for him?" She said no, and that she doesn't know where it came from. So I do some sleuthing, and figure out that we have a mutual friend in the Bay Area who DID in fact buy the onesie from me. The friend from HS currently resides in SF, so it makes sense. BUT....weird right?

The Facebook "friends in common" has led me to some other weird connections too. Love it. I love seeing my onesies on their owners. It makes me smile. Im going to find more of the photos that have been sent to me and upload them as well. At any rate, adorableness below.

new mission: The Socktopus

So a big fat fail on the Austin photo upload thus far. Actually it was kind of a bust as a whole (not the trip, the photo taking), but I do believe I have a few that I will share as soon as I gt them online.

However, I do have a new mission. I hope I have enough socks left. I have recently been reading my friend Abby's blog, Bright Yellow World, where I came upon this entry. So, this is my new project. Shouldn't take too long, right? How many socks do you think it will require? Only one heel. But...I think I can do it. With my limited machine skills, I will prevail. Wish me luck.

Etsy Tag Monday: Texas

Hooray! Vacation is near! I'm extremely excited this week because not only is tomorrow my Friday, but Wednesday we are heading to Austin! We went last April and had a blast, and I'm looking forward to some fun in the sun (and heat), getting a tan, tubing, eating some tacos, or whatever else our friends Heather and Andy have planned for us. With that being said, hopefully I will get some great shots this time and post some pictures of my trip. So....Etsy Tag Monday is Texas. Thought it appropriate.

Found these gorgeous prints from Futurowoman Fotographie and Bonnie Jones respectively. It gets me excited to go and see the landscape, and try to pull off shots like these.

Lucy Blue Studio based out of Austin has made this adorable Robot belt buckle. While it may not resemble Texas, it sure does represent the talent that comes out of it. This Robot is part of a new, cute series featuring cartoon skulls, robots and rabbits.You should check out the rest of their stuff!

CottonEye Josie has some of these great pin up belt buckles. A little more Texas at first glance, you gotta love the Texan flare. Yee Haw?

You wanna scream Texas pride, but at a more subtle level? You can rock these earrings that say "Don't mess with Texas." Made by Kalli has a nice array of jewelry, and though there arent any other cute state representations, you can bet there are others you might want to war.

Thought these were super cute, and I wanted to share. They are all hand whittled, hence the somewhat hefty price for a mustache on a stick, but I'm sure the quality is second to none.

I think I'm inspired to have my own arsenal of mustaches on a stick, and may just try to figure out how to pull it off on my own. Thoughts?

Also as of note...found this "mini mustache" on a stick too. So funny...Maybe I can afford this one for Gertie.

Etsy Tag Monday: Watermelon

Yesterday was the first day of summer! Hooray! With summer for me comes a trip to Austin, live music, walks in the park, pitchers of ice cold lemonade, and attempting to get some sort of tan in the Bay Area. (unlikely) Summer also makes me crave watermelon. It brings me back to the days when I had a swimming pool in my back yard, and every party ended up in bathing suits with huge slices. Thought I would bring back the memories with todays start to summer and Etsy Tag Monday.

This is probably not the best one to start off with, only since I'm not sure that the melon suitcase is still available, but the tomato colored one is pretty cute anyway. Nana Company has other adorable cases as well. Id imagine they would be great storage for other crafty stuff.

If you read my blog, you know I am a fan of the crocheted hat. I really should just suck it up, and take the time to learn how to crochet well, because I will end up spending a fortune on crocheted hats when I have kids. This post is not going to be the complete one I want it to be...and thats because my dad is sitting in my living room, and we are getting ready to go to Napa to wine tasting. However I did find a few cool things on Etsy that would be good for any dad's kitchen. The shop Yava Glass has all sorts of awesome recycled glass items.

These recycled Rolling Rock glasses are pretty cool. They are old bottles, but now functional glasses.

An innovative spoon holder just proves further that this shop has a way with their glass.

They also do coasters to go along with your glass. I'm a fan of decorated glasses. I have a tendency to "borrow" cool beer glasses from local bars. This eliminates the "borrowing" all together. If my glass cabinet wasn't overflowing already, these coasters and glasses would definitely make my way into it

Project research: throw pillows

So I have taken on the task of making some throw pillows for my couch. I'm going to take Mick shopping with me for fabric, because after all its his couch too...but I am browsing Etsy for ideas and cute pillows that people are making and selling. I thought I would share my research. It's been a few days since I posted last, once again flaking on the Etsy tag Monday, so I am going to make up for it with some cute pillow listings.

I kind of love this fabric. Honestly, there are only so many places that a funky chicken fabric would work in my house, but I might make an exception for this pillow. Couch Potatoes etsy shop has quite a few unique pillow fabric choices. Definitely worth taking a look. I also like the simplicity of the design, as I think its something I am capable of making.

I adore the incorporation of my newest favorite thing into this pillow, the minky fabric. Its so soft. This pillow would be perfect to the touch for any little one to sit with. If you look through Icing on the cupcake's Etsy shop, you can find matching blankets as well.

Just for fun I love this whole store. DiffractionFiber has some of the best, most creative, delicious pillows out there. This fortun e cookie is just one of the many food pillows that you can find in this shop. Looks comfy too!

If I didn't think that these would get trashed with my pets running amuck, I would consider these adorable scrabble tile pillows. I highly recommend Pillow Happy's shop. Birds, olives, pears, coral, pillows for geeks...whatever you want on a pillow, its likely there. Browse. DO IT!

Branching out!

I made my first baby blanket to add to my Wunzees Etsy shop. I finally busted out the sewing machine that Mick bought me, and put it to work with some of my fabric that has just been siting around, waiting to be used. I can see that this is a learning curve but I liked my first attempt so much that I am selling it.

Expect to see more blankets from me. It was fun, a challenge, and while many may be laughing at how I'm making a big deal out of something so simple....I've been doing nothing but hand-stitching till now. The Brother sewing machine may become my new best friend (if I can find my misplaced instruction manual) :)

This may be my new favorite thing that I don't have but want, and I dont know what I would do with. I mean, aside from the obvious and use it as tape. But, honestly, its too pretty to JUST use as tape. Maybe create my own cards, or send fun packages to people? Happytape is colored Japanese masking tape, which I guess is now being sold in the United States. It is made of Japanese washi paper. I want it.

Etsy Tag Monday: Beard

So, I guess it had to happen at some point. The tag Beard. It surrounds me all the time. I don't know if you have seen pictures, but my boyfriend has a pretty amazing beard. So much in fact that he has an entire blog dedicated to putting stuff in it.

Oh, and another interesting fact about todays tag. Their were 666 entries in Etsy with the tag beard. Spooooky.

I love this tote, because lets face it...beards ARE sexy. The Bold Banana has a great selection of screenprinted goodies ranging from aprons to totes to t-shirts. For $8 you can't really beat it.

Now, I'm not even sure I know what this is, but I love it. I would want him keeping me company at work and staring at me, judging me. Only because my beard isn't nearly as awesome as his. Old Man Fancy Pants is pretty awesome. CaseyBot only has two items in her shop right now, but I looked at stuff she sold...and its all awesome.

I saw this shirt a while back, but I still like it. I like the mental image of throwing beards from a plane. What would happen then? I don't think that Secret Lovers shop needs my help selling their shirts, but hey...i liked it.

I saw these folks at Sweet and Sour Goodies this past weekend at the Maker Fair in San Mateo, CA, and loved their plush toys. These in particular are their circus dolls and I love the bearded lady. The garden gnomes are pretty cute too. :)

I respect artists that have a vision. When you can look at someones art and say..."that must be a _____". Budding artists especially. I feel like you will get further as an artist if people know what they will expect from you, but always be pleasantly surprised. I've always liked Jen's design aesthetic, and she just updated her Etsy shop....with items that left me pleasantly surprised.

I don't have fine art skill, but I'm fascinated by those who do. Jen is one of those. Her illustrations are awesome, and I may just purchase one to add to my ever growing collection of art. You should definitely browse her Jen Oaks Illustration Etsy shop.

I got a commission yesterday that I jumped at the chance to make. A lily for a little girl named Lilly. To be honest, I had to look at images of lilies to see how to best portray one on a wunzee, but to be quite honest, I think I nailed it. :)

I know its already sold, and it was a custom job, but I had to show it off...i am proud of it.

I love doing the commissions. Sometimes its difficult for me to come up with an original idea that would sell...so this way, I know its an automatic sale, and I get to be creative, catering to what the customer wants. So in my second installment of Friends of the Farm, I am going to profile the cutest lil southerner I've ever had the privilege of calling a good friend. She is also one of the most talented photographers I know. She has been killing it in the wedding business, has a newly designed website for her Elizabeth Ray Photography site, and sells her fine art prints on Etsy under Fly With Me.

1. What made you want to start takin pickshas?

I took a class after digging up an old camera in a junk drawer. Something about Photography was so personal. It changed the way I looked at everything. You just find beauty when you look at life. Your friend can be talking to you and all you see is the blue of the tv on one cheek, yellow lamp light on the other side of their face, and thier expression mixed with the textured wallpaper. Life looks unbelievable. Once you start seeing pictures all the time you can't stop.

2. What inspires you? what do you love to photograph?

Everything! Well, I like that moment when you connect with whatever you are photographing. Everything makes sense. Some photographs I take are just like eating candy. A little cute sweet picture of birds, flowers, puddles, clouds. I like to photograph things that make me as happy as chocolate. My portraits are inspired by ideas and themes. I like to pick out backdrops, colors, and props and set them into action with storylines and emotion behind the eyes.

3. You have been succeeding this past year in the wedding biz...whats the hardest part?

Not crying when people exchange beautiful vows during the ceremony.

4. Will you photograph my wedding and engagement photos when the time comes?

YES!!!!!!!! can I be the flower girl too?

5. Why you so darn cute?

Why you are making me blush!

8. What do you miss most about SF when you arent around? (other than me of course). What about NOLA?

SF - I miss wandering the city from neighborhood to neighborhood and finding cute lil shops to peruse. I miss the beeeaaauutttfiul drives, mountains, the pacific ocean.
I miss california adventures and parties at the Big Blue House.

Nola - when I'm not in nola I miss the heat how laaid back and slow it is - Sitting outside a bar sipping a drink while the ice melts and going inside because of the roaches. Then the neighborhood character of the month walks up sings you a song asks fo a dolla. you laugh. you put your feet up and stay out till 5am. I miss the horrible accents, Yats, how ya ma'am an em'?, and walking around the quarter and finding a parade not during mardi gras.

9. Any advice?

Man...I've been busy and distracted. Visitors, travel, concerts...and working like crazy. I haven't had time to keep up with the daily posting I had been so good at, and I haven't made a onesie or even started a baby blanket in what feels like ages. Things have slowed down...for now, so here is a post, and I will hopefully sew something tonight. Gotta hit the gym first of course.

We arrived in Gloversville, NY yesterday morning to celebrate Mick's brother Ben's 30th b-day. We have been hanging out with his folks, brother, sister in-law and two adorable nephews, Lucas and Damen. I haven't been spending much time on the internet, been off work for a day and a half already, and am enjoying the relaxation. Upstate NY isn't the most exciting of places, but everytime we come here its definitely relaxing. I wanted to share a few pics of the kiddos before I hopped in the shower. Today looks like some mall goin, BBQing later for the b-day party, and probably more relaxing. :)

Lucas will be a year old at the end of June, and unfortunately doesn't fit into any of the onesies I made for him a while back....I wanted to get a shot of him in them. Oh well. Cutie nonetheless.

Damen is 2 and a half, and is the parroting stage right now. Everything you say, he says back...so needless to say, we need to watch our language. :) Such a helper though, giving his brother snacks, helping his dad clean the house...good kid.

Sorry for the lag in my writing. I feel like I had something good and regular going for a while, and then this morning I realized that I missed Etsy Tag Monday! Mick's Dad was here since last Wednesday, and just left, so I was distracted. We are actually leaving for NY on Wednesday night as well, but I'm going to do my best to try and write while I'm there. One of the blogs I follow, for my own art edification is OMG Posters. This lovely gem appeared there this morning, and I thought it was appropriate for this blog. Is it weird that I want to buy it to prepare for when I actually have a kids room to hang it in. Is it normal to start collecting stuff when I'm neither married nor pregnant? I just think its super cute, and would be a great start to any kids room, so I'm sharing it with you. It's a limited edition print that comes in two sizes from Laffiche Moderne. Enjoy it.

In my quest to up build up my blog roll, and find great craft blogs, I came across Making it Lovely. This blog documents Nicole Balch's quest to remodel and redecorate her home. She just gave birth too so there are a bunch of cute pregnancy stories, and I imagine, many baby stories to come. She also has an online company called Pink Loves Brown, where she sells custom stationary.

I've been reading her blog somewhat on the regular, and her latest quest is to win a Better Home and Gardens contest for $5000. The challenge was for five talented home and garden bloggers and they all got charged with a task: designing a $500 outdoor project that you can re-create at home in a weekend.

This is totally me supporting her on my own, only because I really though that the re-do was the best of the bunch. You can vote for her porch once a day, and if you get a chance, I say go for it!

You can dress your baby up to resemble a giraffe, though without the long neck. This adorable cap by CapeCod Consignments can be yours, if you know how to crochet. For a reasonable $2.95 you can own the pattern.

So this listing is for a custom piggy bank. Andrew and Ella Designs will custom paint you a white ceramic bank...so if you want, you can get the giraffes! They have other personalized items as well, check it out.

The colors are vivid, would be a great addition to any kids room. Its different as I dont see alot of pastel originals posted anymore, but it brings me back to my OG crafting days too. Silly Lily has a bunch of these, and I imagine if you bought more than one, you could have quite the jungle.

Nini's Handmade has knit this lil beanie, and embellished it with a giraffe that has been handstitched on (craft after my own taste). I kind of love this giraffe design, and I think it has inspired my next design.

Even I would consider using this journal for my everyday use. Complete with pencil pocket in the front, the journal speaks for itself. Nico Papergoods has other journals for adults as well, but if I buy, I'm sticking to the kids journals.

Today I am going to start a new segment, where I introduce my crafty friends. My real life friends of the farm. Meet Lucia:

Lucia has her own Etsy shop called LuRoe Accessories. With some additional time on her hands, and living in scenic Colorado, she is now able to focus more on her gorgeous handmade jewelry. Her shop continues to grow fast, and I love seeing whats next.

1. What made you want to start crafting?

I have always been slightly crafty, and I actually went to fashion school and found that the hands on stuff was more fun to me. I hate relying on a machine to make my art. I have always found crafting to be very relaxing, a way to center myself.

2. Is jewelry your passion? Or do you see yourself moving beyond jewelry and doing other crafty stuff?

Jewelry is the thing I feel the most inspired to do. When I start making something I usually don't know what I am making and then my hands just kind of take over and it's almost like the jewelry makes itself! I have dabbled in other types of crafting and would like to learn to knit, but when it comes down to it I am just very inspired when it comes to creating jewelry.

3. Im always curious where people prefer working. What is your workspace like?

Well that's something I love about making jewelry, it's a very mobile craft and can easily bring what I am working on just about anywhere. I actually find that I enjoy making jewelry while watching movies or TV.

4. Alright then, what are your Top 5 TV shows?

Some of them are no longer on the air, but I have them on DVD and could watch over and over again. The office (US version), Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Twin Peaks, Arrested Development

5. Just because I want to know..who is your favorite Muppet?

I love animal!!! He does and says what ever he feels.

6. Any advice?

My advice is to just allow yourself to be inspired by every day things, nature, people, art and take a little of that to inspire your creations. And just remember that there are no rules, so push boundaries and do what makes you happy!

Welcome Gertie to our family! Mick and I finally got the kitten we had been searching for. After all our frustration and failed attempts, today was the day. It was fate. I called the SFSPCA in the morning, and they let us know that there were a few kittens in that day, so we raced over the bridge and fell in love right away. She was perfect. Her name was Ruby. There were a few there with jewel names, but the one that was available was her. The kitten had to be ours. Ruby said so.

She is playful, cuddles in our arms and falls asleep, and already has let Brody know how she feels. That will take a few days of assimilation, but I think that they will be fast friends.

We will be calling her Gertie (Gertrude), but Ruby will always be a part of who she is.

I had a field day the other day on eBay, and bid on a bunch of listing for fat quarters.

What Is a Fat Quarter?

A fat quarter is a one-fourth yard cut of fabric that (usually) measures 18" x 22" instead of the typical 9" x 44" quarter-yard cut. The longest side's dimension will vary if your fabric is not 44" wide.

Why Would I Want a Fat Quarter?

A fat quarter gives you the opportunity to cut larger chunks of fabric than would be possible from a regular quarter-yard, including strips that are twice as long on the fabric's (less stretchy) lengthwise grain.

A fat quarter offers more versatility, whether it's for patchwork or appliqué. Quilt shops know that fat quarters are popular, and usually offer a wide assortment of them, pre-cut and ready to go.

You can use fat quarters for strip piecing by making extra strip sets from shorter lengths of fabric until you've cut the number of segments required for the pattern.

I got my first few delivered, and I cant wait to start on some projects! We need some larger pillows for the couch, and some of these are perfect starts to some baby blankets! Hooray! Can't wait to get more and show you those too....First project soon.

In a perfect world, I'd find a way to do this crafting stuff full time. I'd have a screen print machine, a die cut machine, a heat press, know how to be a master sewer, and have some more knowledge of how to use Illustrator. I'd go back in time, and take the art classes I should have ages ago.

I know there is always time for this, but in the mean time I have to pay the bills, so anything I start will be slow and go.

I have however found some inspiration in other peoples blogs, and people who have had the ability to take their love full time, or just be successful. Some are craft blogs, some home decor, others photography. Here is a small sample of the ones I regularly follow. The talent pool is endless. Some blogs I recommend...

So Staceys Bookstore in SF recently closed. This is terribly sad because this place had over 85 years of history in the city. Also...it was the closest bookstore to my office. However, with this place closing, they had a liquidation sale on all of their furniture, and I made out with a file cabinet and two metal paper holders, all for under $30. This file cabinet (below), retails over $15o in most places, so I got a steal! It has definitely seen better days, and I bought it with the intention of prettying it up and painting it to my liking. Sooo...how do I paint a metal file cabinet? Search on Google, and type in "How to paint a metal file cabinet," and an eHow tutorial shows up, exactly with what I am looking for. I am looking forward to tackling this project, and finding some ventilated space to spray my cabinet. I can't wait to keep you all updated on the progress. Hopefully I can get to this sooner than later.

Maybe I'm just craving it, or maybe its because I know there is a ton of cute stuff tagged sushi out there on Etsy, but that is the word of the day. Sushi. Here we go.

I first saw this stuff a while back, and found it to be so fun. Yes, its hand towels, but how bad would you love to get this as a gift. I honestly don't think I could bring myself to open it. Sushi for Baby makes these practical, not edible displays of fish. I would forgo drying my hands for sure.

UmeCraft's gives you the PDF of the pattern, and teaches you how to make your own felted sushi pieces. I have linked to her stuff before, because its super cute, but as long as her tags continue to match my needs, I'll show you. Why wouldn't you want your own felted sushi?

So I kind of disappeared this weekend. When there were BBQ's galore, birthday parties to attend, and other fun stuff in the city to do, I chose to stay at home most of the weekend. Saturday I did go to a BBQ briefly, but was home in my PJ's by 8:00. I think thats Ok every once in a while. Just disappearing, no justification needed. We did go and buy a few video games today to entertain us, in addition to continuing the search for a kitten (we don't own one yet, though I'm hopeful we find a new friend this week. This relaxing weekend allowed me to almost complete a commission of 6 onesies, and do a few of my own for my shop. Im rested, and ready to start my week....hopefully being as productive as I need to be. A few of the latest and greatest for you to check out...

Continuing with the retro theme this weekend, I made this super cute 1-up onesie. I debated actually including the 1-up words on it, but decided that simple is better.

I also made a similar tulip for my commission, and liked it so much, I added it to my store too!

Stonemountain and Daughter

This past February I took an intro to sewing class. Ive always considered myself to be somewhat of a quick learner, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to sew. I had my mothers old machine, and I had this fear of breaking it. Even after my friend came over to teach me to use it, I used it that day, but forgot soon after. I started hand stitching fabric on my wunzees, but really wanted to figure out how to machine sew too..for more options.

The problem got worse when Mick bought me a higher end sewing machine for the holidays...now i really needed to learn.

Enter Stonemountain and Daughter. If you are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend it. I took a $30 intro to sewing class, and left with a pillow. They didn't give me the pillow...i made it! Nicole was great and thorough and a great teacher. I am confident now that I can actually continue sewing, and wont forget how to thread the machine. They have a great course list, so you can leave with a tote, skirt, etc.

This place will be a frequent stop for me...i can feel it. In fact, when I left the class, I got a coupon for discount fabrics, and I haven't even used it yet! Nor have I truly used the skills that I learned. I get so wrapped up in the wunzees, that I forget I have a great machine sitting in the the other room!

I don't know what is keeping me from getting started. I got some cute fabric, bought my self-healing mats, and have scissors (though I could use a better pair). I think I'm afraid of not succeeding...but I guess I'll never know till I try. I'll keep you posted as to my progress. I bought a PDF off of etsy with a pattern for a baby blanket. I think that is where I'll start. I also bought vintage t-shirts off of eBay, and plan on turning them into tote bags....maybe I'll start there. I think that the FIRST place to start is by getting off the couch, and stepping away from the wunzees for a bit. (Or at least one evening)

Just wanted to show you all my newest retro addition to my collection...TETRIS!

So fun! This one took a bit of time for sure, and I opted to use just fabric glue instead of sewing the individual pieces on. It gives it a bit of sheen. I also made my third Pacman onesie...lets see how long this one sticks around in my shop!

Etsy Tag Monday: Walrus

Today's Etsy tag was once again chosen by Mick. No real explanation needed, other than Walrus' rule. I mean, have you seen the Walrus playing the saxaphone? Am I right?? :)

Starting with this Mr. Walter piece of fine art, measuring in at 6x6. Love the mustache, and the fact that it's an original, makes the $28 price point a steal. RetroWhale has alot of really interesting pieces.

This tote bag is super cute. I love the playful nature of the walrus. It comes in multiple colors, and I'm immediately drawn to the photo just cuz the bag is filled with my favorite, the Gerber daisy. RainbowSwirlz has a ton of great screen printed items, and if you aren't into the tote, get the walrus on a shirt!

The LOLrus! For all you who know the I can haz cheeseburger site, you would be familiar with this clever wordsmith. Just don't take his bukket. Icky Dog creations has other plush animals as well, but none of this fame.

This might be my favorite of all my walrus finds today. If only it were bigger, I would love something like this for a cookie jar. I guess I'll just have to eat smaller cookies? MudFairy's shop is full of cute hand thrown pottery, with faces. I'm going to browse and maybe start a MudFairy collection!

I love the pattern of this walrus screenprinted t-shirt. The heather grey v-neck makes it look uber comfy too. NewDuds is doing what I would love to do, and screen printing. Love their shop, and you can check out their store page on Facebook too!

the shower of Lady Bugs

I just got back from Emily's baby shower. Though it was a 2 hour drive each way, it was totally worth it, and great to see my friend in her very pregnant state. I was really impressed with the shower overall. Trina, the host, was very clever in keeping the ladybug theme, and it actually spread to the guests and their gifts as well. The crafty nature of Emily's family and friends was impressive. Some highlights:

Trina's friend Janelle made these adorable cupcakes. White frosting with red sprinkles and strawberries, where the other ones had green frosting with lady bugs on top.

Emily's sister in law made this cute diaper cake. It was a three tier cake (not edible of course), surrounded with cute accessories like pacifiers, the lady bug sandals on top, and combs.

With the already chosen name Sophia, the obvious nickname is Sophie, so Emily received this cute hand painted pillow. I guess the baby lays on it in the parent's lap. Adorable and functional!

This was the most amazing quilt I had seen in a long time. Emily's mother had quilted this Hungry Little Caterpillar themed quilt, and you could tell a lot of talent and love were put into it. I would hope for something like this as well. I thought it cute, especially with the recent onesie I had made in the same theme.

Emily has already decided that the theme of Sophia's room will be Red, Black and White, so how appropriate that Trina painted these letters for her room. A nice splay of color, both solid and patterned, and a treasure for any child's room. Something that can grow old with her as well.

Last, but certainly not least, how can I leave out the picture of Emily with the onesie I made for her. I cant wait to see the photo of baby Sophia rockin the outfit!

I get excited when I make a sale. What can I say...I have a day job, these aren't paying the rent, but I get excited. I love the idea of putting together what someone wants for them and finishing a commission like I did last night. I also love the added bonus of realizing that they bought additional wunzees that I already had in the shop! Bonus. I let many more people in my life know that I'm doing this.

I sent out a mass email, dragged all my product to LA for the weekend...and guess what!

I sold 4 in LA, got a commission for here, and other people interested in the shop! Yay! Looks like I have to start bulking up my in-store inventory again, and figuring other ways to intrigue the masses.

Yesterday was ridiculously windy. Came from nowhere, and was windy throughout the Bay Area, and probably elsewhere as well. With Summer coming faster than we realize, windy days like that make me think of kite flying, and all of the people that will be out and about with their awesome kites. I have a friend whose goal was to fly a kite, and you can see she had a tough time finding one at a decent price. eHow shows you how to make one. I have taken the instructions and included below. If and when I decide to make my own kite for a windy day as well....I'll post the pics here.

Things you will need:

2 Dowel Rods
Rulers Or Yardstick
Utility Knives
Strong String
Stiff Construction Paper
X-Acto Knives
Glues
Scissors
Kites
Ribbons Or Strips Of Cloth

1: Cut two lengths of doweling rod, one 16 inches long and another 24 inches long.

2: Measure each cut piece with a ruler. Mark the shorter, 16-inch piece at half its length and mark the longer, 24-inch piece at a third of its length.

3: Position the two rods at right angles, one on top of the other so that the marks touch. The two rods should form a cross shape.

4: With strong, thin string, bind the two rods together where they meet. Tie a secure knot and cut off excess string.

5: Use a utility knife to cut a small notch into the ends of both rods. These notches will hold the string that gives the kite its shape.

6: Place some string in the notch at the top of the kite frame and wind it around the top of the rod.

7: When the string is well-secured at the top of the rod, draw it tightly around the edge of the frame. Make sure it fits securely into each notch in the rods.

8: When you return to the top of the frame, secure the string by tying its ends together in a tight knot.

9: Place the finished frame on top of a large piece of paper.

10: Using the kite frame as a template, cut the paper with scissors or a utility knife. Leave an excess of about 1/2 inch when cutting around the sections of string.

11: Smear glue along the outside edges of the paper and fold it over so that it encloses the string and secures itself to the paper inside the frame as well. Make sure you use enough glue and spread it evenly enough to attach the paper both to the string and itself.

12: Tie a length of string to each end of the shorter rod. The string should be a bit longer than the rod.

13: Tie another length of string to each end of the longer rod. Again, the string should be a bit longer than the rod.

14: Pick up the two strings with one hand, finding the point at the front of the kite where they overlap. Using a bit of extra string, tie them together. This is the point at which you will attach the kite string when it comes time to fly.

15: To make a tail for your kite, secure several ribbons to the bottom of the kite using strong glue.

Yippee! It's kitten season, and that means that we are getting one! The hope is to pick up our new furry friend on Wednesday. We havent picked one out yet, nor have we named the kitten we haven't met, but rest assured, you will see photos of the lil one soon enough. With that being said, todays Etsy Tag Monday is appropriately: Kitten. Here goes.

Again, more reasons for me to want to learn how to knit. You can knit one of these Hopefull Kittens with the pattern by Cheezombie. You can find things to do with all the leftover random yarn in your collection, and get one of these cuties.

Seriously...how cute is this lil kitten hat for a newborn? I only hope that when i start a family, people read my blog and get gift ideas. Too cute. Gem's Boutique offers this hat in a few colors as well.

Hooray for sock animals. I appreciate the effort and the adorable designing in an idea that I wish I had thought of myself. This kitten is a polka dot dream, and child friendly to boot. Uppity Woman Designs has quite a few other fun sock animals as well in addition to assorted knicknacks.

For my final Etsy find today, I went with these adorable hand warmers by KnitLush. Not everything has to be about the kids you know. With a little Beatrix Potter button accent with a Miss Moppet kitten, these are definitely something you should add to your wardrobe.

I am driving down to LA for Passover today. The first night technically was Wednesday, and that is when the typical household holds their seder, but this year, my grandmother wanted to have as much family in town so we are doing it during the weekend. Passover has been a traditional family get together every year for me, even though our actual rituals get less and less traditional every year. I thought I'd post some Passover friendly stuff today.

The story of Moses is Passover heavy, with him guiding the Israelis out of Egypt, so I have found this cute Cardboard Tube Moses for you to do with the kids. All recycled material, and adorable to boot. Click on the link to find the instructions.

During Passover, there is always a stack of matzot on the table during the holiday meals. This etched-glass matzo tray is a beautiful holder for the matzot, though if making it with a kiddo, you probably would need to keep them supervised. You can find the directions as to how to etch this plate on number 3 on the page. In order to give the craft its proper credit, they excerpted the idea and directions from Crafting Jewish.

I just found this belt buckle kitchy. "Why Is This Knight Different From All Other Knights?" Its from BareTree's shop on Etsy. He only has two of these...just in time for Passover.

Im not complaining! In the past 2 days, I've gotten 6 orders for custom wunzees. I find that this is how most of my purchases are happening now, and I'm game for it. It allows me to challenge myself, and get creative, and figure out how to get the customer what they want. One of my orders was for The Hungry Caterpillar. You know..the book by Eric Carle? Check out my version. I'm super proud of it. You do what you can with the fabric, and I think I did pretty well!

So...in my re-branding process, the next logical step was to make my etsy banner of wunzees the same as my blog, and the business cards I ordered yesterday. Thats right...I ordered cards!! Cant wait.

Anyway, I wanted to write a quick note to let you all know that its now "The Little Goat.com's Wunzees" Etsy doesnt let you change your username and webpage, so I had to make it all flow together. Mick designed it, and I want to share it. Let me know what you think!

I have also bought some hosting space for thelittlegoat.com, so the redirect will soon be finalized, and all things my blog can be found there! Hooray for it finally coming together!

Etsy Tag Monday: Blimp

Todays Etsy tag was chosen by Mick. Blimp is currently his favorite word to say, and who doesn't like a good Zepplin. So, Blimp it became. There aren't too many items tagged with the word, so I didn't have a ton to choose from, but the stuff was all quality. So here goes.

Love the old vintage suitcase. I actually regret not buying an amazing one I saw at a consignment shop, but it wasn't nearly as good of quality as this one sold by BrightWall. I love the simplicity of the stencil.

It wouldn't be my blog if I didn't bring in something great for the kiddos, but this baby's blanket by Mommys Lil Monkey is such a great fabric. I love the planes, blimps, hot air balloons, and I especially love the colors. For $10, it is definitely a steal.

I noticed when searching for the word Blimp, that there was quite a bit of SteamPunk style items. This necklace caught my eye. Gorgeous vintage pendant, made current. Cosmic Firefly's site appears to be pretty new, and if payday comes around and this Owl Pendant is still available, I may be purchasing it for myself.

OR....just keep it simple with a card. The Little Chickadee has all sorts of cute goodies.

I want to start delving into the how-to of my sewing machine. I took a brief class, and feel like I have the basics down now, so I want to get good. I figure I'll keep it in the vein of baby stuff, seeing as though I've been focused on the onesies. Next stop...baby blankets.

Im stoked though, because I've been sitting on some awesome fabric, and I just got a self-healing cutting mat in the mail. Im all set to cut straight lines!

the gerber daisy

Love love love the gerber daisy. I'd say its one of my favorite flowers for sure. I think its the size that gets me. It always stands out in a bouquet, seeking all the attention. Makes for a beautiful arrangement, as well as an accessory. Im a fan of the live flower for my hair (see photo below), but there are also a lot of great craftsters that let you wear them all year long.

If you are looking for a springtastic bright accessory, this hippyish headband really stands out. Mandizzle has many colors and styles. Really beautiful, though I'm not sure I could pull it off.

Creative Kiddos has really cute gerber daisy accesories for your munchkin. How precious does she look in her crocheted hat?

These gerber daisy clips would work for the kiddos and adults alike. I'd consider buying one, only so that my daisy doesnt die after one time use when I buy it fresh. Katylua's shop of little curiosities has a ton of great looking flower accessories.

animals with tails

To date, I've been all over the map. From onesies that resemble karate wear, to sailboats, to cows, my designs have been more of a spur of the moment, what should I make kind of stuff. Some of them have been commissions, which I of course am OK with, and will continue to be, but I need more focus for the shop. More focus for "The Little Goat."

So...with the new name of "The Little Goat", I figure animals with tails...i can get creative within paramaters of a tail. (Maybe sneak a walrus or two in there)

So far...I have Sock Monkeys, Cows, Foxes, Dogs, Cats, etc...

I posted a query about animals with tails...got responses like lemurs, skunks, squirrels and teenagers! What do you think??? I think that these will be my next ones, but want the public opinion.

Felt treats!

Ever since I created my own Halloween outfit, a bag of Skittles, out of a pillow case and felt, I've been interested in additional uses for felt. What else can I do with it, especially now that I know how to sew and have moved beyond the hot glue gun.

I found the cutest site! Browsing thru Etsy, I found this felt food, and upon further exploration, I realized that she has her own site, and all sorts of tutorials. UmeCrafts (wu~may~crafts) doesn't sell the crafts, but she tells you how to do what she does. Even better. She charges for her patterns on Etsy, like this dim sum set. She even teaches you how to weave the basket.

But, if you browse her webpage, Lit'l Brown Bird, there are free listings as well. Like this one of the picnic basket (you can purchase all the fruit patterns)

This stuff is sooo cute. I just cant handle it. It also looks like she has started a new Etsy site, Lit'l Brown Bird starting in April 2009, where the felt will be sold in kits, so it will make your fruit and cookie making experience that much easier.

Could you imagine. A house where everything for your kids was soft, and no one would get hurt? Aweosme.

Etsy Tag Monday: Lady bug

A good friend of mine is having a baby girl in the upcoming months. The theme of the baby shower is lady bugs. The invitations were adorned with lady bugs, the envelope covered in lady bug stickers, so when deciding what onesie to create for her, the choice was obvious. As was the tag for today. While you cant have this one, because its for Emily, if you want something similar, let me know and we can work it out.

To accompany this onesie, I found the cutest Lady Bug booties from LaurasLoft, and hopefully they make it to me before mid April! Cant wait to see them.

Outside of my current purchase, there were some other adorable items on Etsy tagged with lady bug. Like this tutu. Im a fan of the tutu, even wearing them as an adult when the occasion is right, but if you have a daughter, you should put her in this! The Pampered Li ttle Princess Boutique has a ton of tutu's and other girlie goodness.

If you and your kids like story telling, these little finger puppets are too cute. There are bugs, bears, mice, people, etc. So many stories to tell using your fingers. :) Wee Knit is talented, again reinforcing my desire to learn to knit and crochet.

To round off any good gift giving idea, or buy it just because you are a fan of the lady bug like I am, these burp cloths are awesome as well. They look think and absorbent, and are made with terrycloth for easy washing. Check out the rest of The Trendy Baby's shop.

crafty kiddos- Flat Stanley comes to Oakland

If I ever get back into teaching one of the first things I'm going to do with my kids, regardless of grade level, is host a Flat Stanley project. Flat Stanley is a book by Jeff Brown. Its about a kid who gets flattened by a bulletin board one night, and becomes a half inch thick.

Amazing things begin happening to him. Stanley gets rolled up, mailed, and flown like a kite. He even gets to help catch two dangerous art thieves. He may be flat, but he's a hero! There are quite a few books about Stanley and his adventures.

Teachers have used this as an opportunity for their kids to get crafty and creative.

A little background Flat Stanley: The project was started in 1995 by Dale Hubert, a third grade teacher. It is meant to facilitate letter-writing by schoolchildren to each other as they document what Flat Stanley has done with them. The Flat Stanley Project provides an opportunity for students to make connections with students of other member schools who've signed up with the project. Students begin by reading the book and becoming acquainted with the story. Then they make paper "Flat Stanleys" and keep a journal, documenting the places and activities in which Flat Stanley is involved. Then they send Flat Stanley to someone else to continue his journey.

Its a great way for kids to get creative with their Flat Stanley, and his many adventures.

Mick and I got a Flat Stanley in the mail last week, courtesy of our friend Kristen's class in Austin. We took him on BART and around the lake. Here is part of his journey. Honestly, he was kind of a pimp. Check it out.

shoe photography

I am an amateur photog at best. Just because you have a digital SLR doesn't make you a pro...and while I would love to have better equipment, and take better photos, I do what I can with what I have, and use my little Photoshop skills for some post production. I could use a class. I could use a few. One of my personal faves that I took with my Nikon D40 is one of a shoe in a shoe garden in SF. Alamo Square to be precise.

What I realize though is how much i like shoe photography. In my search today, I found some awesome examples. My personal favorites being the shoes that I love to wear...Chuck Taylors. Comfort is key.

a turtle named Monkey

It seems that all of my friends are pregnant, or with child. This may be where the inspiration came for me to start with the Wunzees, but who knows. I went to a old friend's wedding this past January, and it was a smaller affair, with a few of my good friends in attendance. There were about 8 ladies that I knew at this wedding, and two had their children with them, two guests were pregnant, and the bride was too! Still is in fact. That is where the inspiration for my latest creation came from.

Cindy had a turtle back in college. The turtle's name was Monkey. (As a side, we have a dog friend named Monkey as well. Apparently its a popular animal to name another animal) When Monkey got too big for his tank, and Cindy's apartment got too small for a Monkey, so she had to find him a new home. With Cindy having baby in the next few months, a baby gift will likely be necessary, and seeing as though baby gifts are my game now, I thought she could have a new little turtle who poops less, doesn't require daily feedings, and has a different name.

Don't get me wrong. This lil guy is totally for sale. However, if when the time comes for a baby gift to be given, if its still unsold in my shop...decision made. Remember too, that if you are reading my blog, or visiting my site, and you like one of the designs I have, but it's not being sold in the right size, just let me know and I can make another one!

Etsy Tag Monday: Goat

In order to support my fellow craftsters, every Monday I will have one tag that I use, and find cute stuff around that tag. I will gladly take suggestions, and use readers suggestions for tags. For my first Etsy Tag Monday, I went with the most obvious choice, GOAT.

For anyone who knows how to crochet (I wish I did), this pattern is awesome. I want to buy the goat due to my lack of skill in the crochet dept, but if anyone wants to make it for me, I'll gladly buy you the $4 pattern! You should totally add the Crocheted and Felted Billy Goat Amigurumi Pattern by thebirdsandbees to your pattern collection...if you are into that kind of thing.

This whole Plush Goodness Etsy shop looks like something out of an amazing kids book. What great stories you could tell with multiple plushies, and starting your collection off with the Goat of course. Who doesn't want a blue crotchety Gramps Goat for their stuffed collection?

This one I just thought to be interesting. Looks cozy, and cute, with a hint of freaky. Its a good thing that they state that it's meant for people over the age of 12, because this Duck, Duck, Duck, Goa t leaves me with just a touch the willies, so I can imagine how a four year old would feel. I'm curious as to the thought process behind it. You should check out more of michellekeller's creatures, especially the Angry Goose Crab. I want in on the decision making, and animal combos. Could be fun!

With all of the goat plushies and art, also came up were a lot of Goat's Milk Soaps. I'm a sucker for lavendar, so this one got my attention. This Handmade Lavender Goats Milk Soap for only $2 sounds like a steal! All of dolisoap's soaps are made from vintage molds, and are handmade...sexy.

So in an attempt to expand and rebrand, I have decided to start a blog that is craft oriented. To this point, I've been writing a WordPress blog Too Salty for my Taste, but I decided that I want to be more focused, and in the process try Blogger.

Why "The Little Goat" you ask?

Maybe I'm nesting, maybe I just like little things, but making onesies makes me happy. I have been designing onesies for my Etsy.com site, Wunzees. When deciding to rebrand, to possibly make more stuff other than just onesies, The Little Goat was born. Seriously, goats are pretty darn cute, and if you actually think about it, a little goat is a.....kid. Perfect.

I have been as successful as I can be, with my friends being my biggest supporters. I work another job 8:30-5:30, in a field completely unrelated. I prefer the sewing. I would love to find a way to do something creative for a living and have other people buy my stuff, other than people I already know. But in the mean time, I'm small potatoes. Its therapeutic through the whole design process.

This blog is a late attempt at me writing about my process, showing my designs, and sharing other peoples designs that I find to be awesome as well.

This process isn't all mine though. I may do the cutting, sewing, stitching, etc...buy my boyfriend Mick is the creative wordsmith that describes all the items. His words are half the fun. He also designed the banner and is helping me brand myself. This is phase one. When I started my Etsy site, we declared it "Wunzees". Now "The Little Goat" is the future. Its evolution.
